| In honoring the Memorandum of Understanding
between the City of Whitefish and Flathead Gateway Partners, a Steering
Committee has been established and convened for the first time on
October 27th. The four-member committee, consisting of two members of
both the City and the Partnership, is responsible for making joint
decisions during the course of the Trail Runs Through It project.
The Steering Committee Members are as follows:
- Andy Feury- Mayor of Whitefish
- Velvet Phillips-Sullivan (Chair)- City Council

- Steve Thompson (Secretary)- Flathead Gateway
Partners Board Secretary
- Marshall Friedman (Vice-Chair)- Flathead
Gateway Partners Board Member
Alternates:

- City – Nick Palmer
Decisions are made by majority vote. Steering Committee members may
seek input and direction from the entity they represent if necessary.
All meetings are open to the public and meeting minutes are posted on
the website.
Steering Committee Responsibilities are:
- To oversee the implementation of the Memorandum
of Understanding;
- To select the Trail Project Coordinator;
- To determine the number of, and to select, the
Trail Advisory Committee;
- To receive, review, and act on recommendations
from the advisory committee concerning the trail;
- To determine the scope of the Trail, approve a
work plan, and approve appropriate timelines with consultation from the
Trail
Project Coordinator and the Trail
Planning Committee.
- To meet with DNRC directly when necessary.
